Interesting AOL Email

Sure, I get lots of good email, but that sort of stuff is no fun to share. This is some of the negative, and plain weird, email that I've received.

Subject: Webpage simulation

Your America Online Webpage simulation is greatly exaggerated. Although it was hilarious, it doesn't reflect the true performance of the AOL Web Browser. You probably haven't tried it yourself and your're just very angry about America Online that you can't see the good points of the service which is mainly why I use the service for.

Although an account from an ISP (be it SLIP/PPP, Frame Relay, ISDN, or ATM connection) is a better choice for an Internet service there are some services that you just can't get but is readily available with an AOL account. I will not be talking avout 1-800-FLOWERS or anything similar since these services can also be accessed with a phone call and is also available on the WWW via eShop. There are other services that requires your attention so that I can justify that AOL is still worth the $3.00 which are:

a) Technical support from many software companies who advertise through America Online and serve as content providers.

b) Online references such as encyclopedias (Britanica Encyclopedia provides a WWW version but is much more expensive).

c) AOL provides help forums for several topics such as computers (including programming, networking, hobbies, etc...)

d) AOL can also serve as a babysitter provided that you restrict your kid's access to prevent them from accessing forums or topics which contain adult material.

e) The IM serves as an online pager to any member signed on even though they are not on a chat area which you can only do when someone's on the IRC on the internet.

I hope that I have provided you enough information to explain my stand on this topic.

It gets weird . . .

i agree with you and all the other AOL SUX supporters out there whole-heartdly. I even tried hacking into AOL billing and giving all the members a discount instead of a BILL, unfortunatley i ended up crashing the fucker for about 3 hours, but who gives a fuck?!. AOL SUX, AMEN, KEEP THOSE STORIES POSTED! maybe ill write one for ya! (humorous of course!)

Subject: AOL BROWSER

HELLO: TODAY I HAD THE UNFORTUNATE LUCK OF VIEWING MY NEW WEBSITE FOR KMEL RADIO THROUGH A BROWSER THAT I WAS TOLD, WAS THE SAME BASIC BROWSER THAT AOL USES ...

The reason I am contacting you is that I need to get a copy of the browser software that AOL uses ( which I would imagine is similar to the other commercial services ) so that I can test my site and make adjustments so that it is at least readable. DO YOU KNOW WHERE I CAN GET THIS SOFTWARE?

Some email from Ecuador. If you can understand what this guy is saying, please let me know.
